Welcome to Behind The Desk

We’re Kyle and Adam, the people building The Desk and StockApp. This blog is where we’ll share what that process looks like from our side of the screen. Most of The Desk focuses on markets: investment ideas, research, evidence, and the developments worth paying attention to. Behind The Desk has a different purpose. Here, we’ll write about building the tools, making decisions, working with AI, and learning as we go. It’s also the only place on the site dedicated to human-written entries from us. The research elsewhere comes through our AI-supported research and publication system. These posts are our personal space to explain what we’re thinking and experiencing along the way. We hope to share things like:

• How The Desk and StockApp are being built, and why we choose certain features.
• Where AI has been useful, where it has struggled, and what those experiences have taught us.
• Mistakes, unexpected problems, and the work involved in fixing them.
• Ideas we’re exploring and questions we haven’t answered yet.

Some posts may explain a new feature. Others may describe a frustrating afternoon trying to get something seemingly simple to work. We want to make room for both. Building these projects keeps giving us reasons to reconsider our assumptions about software, research, and AI.
